5th International Symposium on Chemosynthesis-Based Ecosystems
The 5th International Symposium on Chemosynthesis-Based Ecosystems, co-sponsored by InterRidge and Ocean Networks Canada, will provide researchers with an opportunity to review recent advances in the study of ecosystems that depend on organic matter production by chemolithoautotrophic microorganisms. The symposium will be held August 18-23 at the Victoria Conference Centre.

Twenty years ago, the Convention on Biological Diversity in Rio de Janeiro was enacted, Brian Mulroney, Kim Campbell, and Jean Chrétien were Prime Minister(s), the Nunavut Act was passed, the Blue Jays won the world series, and the organizational meeting of EECOM was held in Merrickville, ON.
This year we commemorate those 20 years with another fabulous gathering of Canada’s environmental education and communication community in Victoria, British Columbia. We’ll gather in the territories of the Coast and Straits Salish People at the University of Victoria Faculty of Education and explore other local settings for three days of learning and experiences.
The theme for this year will encourage rich and engaging collaboration so bring your hearts and minds to Victoria!
